We've long been a fan and know you're going to love getting to know Missy and her gorgeous artistic layouts!
Each month we feature a new friend of Maya Road and their beautiful, unique & creative style! This month Missy has some mixed media designs paired up with Maya Road goodies that we can't wait to share with you! Before we get started, here's a little more about Missy...
Hello there! I’m Missy Whidden from sunny Florida USA. I’ve been married to my college sweetheart for almost 18 years, but we’ve been together for 24. We have two beautiful daugthers, Reese & Paige. They are both autistic and nonverbal, so there is never a dull moment in our house. They are the funniest little comedians ever and they teach us something new every day. I’m a stay-at-home-working mom. I’m a fitness instructor as well as an obsessed scrapbooker. I teach six classes a week at the gym, and I love working out in the weight room. I also love reading and watching Netflix. I’ve been scrapping for over 11 years now. My style has evolved quite a bit…haha. I love adding mixed media to my layouts, and I love using cut files and machine stitching on my pages. I love bright colors and fun textures. I’m currently on the Paige Evans Design Team, Hip Kit Club DT and Shimmerz Education Team. I can’t imagine scrapbooking not being in my daily life. It’s my therapy and I can’t live without it. Thank you so much for having me as the Guest Designer this month! It has been a pleasure.
Thanks so much Missy for joining us today! Take it away...
Fave Moment Layout
Hello, friends! Missy Whidden here as this month’s Guest Designer, and I had so much fun creating my layout here using some fun Maya Road products. I enjoy starting with plain cardstock and building a layout from that, so I decided to start my design with some of the Ken Oliver Vintage Trim. It’s a very sheer ribbon, and it’s made to be colored if you want. I used yellow, blue and green ink sprays and went to town coloring the trim. I even splattered on some gold Color Shine, and the ribbon strips turned out so pretty!
I created a striped design with some black and white striped paper strips and the ribbon. I added some of the same ink sprays to my background to create a watercolor effect and then did lots of messy machine stitching. I used the Banner Steel Die to create those cute little pieces under the photo. I cut them on white cardstock and then watercolored and stamped on them.
I also layered in some of the Ken Oliver Yellow Lemon Waxed Hemp for an extra pop of color and texture. I embellished with lots of stickers from various manufacturers as well as some puffy stickers and a flair button. It was a lot of fun to make. I hope you’re inspired in some way. Thanks for taking a look!
Check back in again tomorrow for another gorgeous project from Missy!
